In the past few years we have seen a huge shift in customers' need for lone worker protection. Why?
- More workers face working alone, so employers look to keep their workers safe.
- Recent changes in legislation. There are now over 6 million lone workers in the UK, that’s 1/5 of the population. Yet, many still do not understand what a lone worker is, or consider themselves/ their employees to be one. Some people who work alone are at a higher risk than others from harm, injury or being directly put into a vulnerable position which can compromise their safety.
With the tragic events that have unfolded at Ladbrokes recently, people who hadn’t given it a second thought, are now beginning to understand the very real & very serious issues that can occur to those that work alone. There is no law in place for lone workers at the moment. Nevertheless, all employers need to provide their lone working staff with the adequate protection of lone working devices and solutions to help keep their staff safe at all times.
