Lone worker protection for industrial & construction workers
Workers within this sector are often at risk within the workplace from lifting heavy objects, operating machinery, moving vehicles and working at height. Most workers will find themselves having to work alone for prolonged periods of time, or in isolated areas of the site, leaving them exposed to greater risks and accidents. Statistics from HSE show that in 2015/16 144 workers were killed as a result of a work place accident, the majority of these being either falling from height or being struck by a moving vehicle/object.

Staff in industrial and construction are rarely alone in the truest sense of the word, as the work environment is often swarming with people. Even the busiest site will have quiet areas – basement areas hardly anyone goes, plant rooms, roof spaces, lift shafts. Other employees may be mere metres away, but have no way of knowing a colleague needs help, unless they go and check. These days, everyone is busy and time can fly by.
LONEALERT Access:
What is it?
Accessed via The O.W.L, landline, mobile phone or smartphone, LONEALERT Access is a simple, cost effective solution to benefit lower risk roles within this sector.
How it can work?
A Quantity Surveyor, or Site Manager needs to travel alone to a site, at which no other employees of his company are there. Before leaving, they activate LONEALERT by sending a message to the O.W.L with the abbreviation of the site they are attending and their expected duration. Once they arrive, they update their timer for the expected duration of the visit. When they leave they log-out. If help is needed they press a panic button, or if they fail to log-out before the timer expires, then the alarm is raised after a checking period.
LONEALERT Instant:
What is it?
The Instant solution includes all products within the LONEALERT Access range, and adds access via a range of dedicated devices. GPS equipped with fall detection, panic and one button timer creation.
How it can work?
A housing development is in progress, but the show house is ready. Evenings and weekends, the estate is a quiet place. They LONEALERT Instant range gives the sales people peace of mind that help is just a discrete button press away.
LONEALERT Plus:
What is it?
Plus includes LONEALERT Access, and all the safety features of Instant, but adds high durability, IP67 rated devices, with LCD screen for improved user feedback and advanced notifications, with Bolt-Ons for indoor locating workers. Also includes an ATEX intrinisically safe option if required.
How it can work?
A maintenance worker is making his round of checks, which includes going into areas only maintenance staff roam. Other staff always assume the maintenance person is elsewhere. Wearing his Plus device, the worker just goes about his duties. Due to the heavy roof material, it is not possible to get a GPS signal, however his location is narrowed down with the Internal Location beacons Bolt-On which automatically sends his location to the O.W.L as he is in range. More specific location can be gained by using the RF-Tag Bolt On. If a problem occurs, the Plus can send the alarm automatically through lack of motion or fall, or upon the press of a panic button.
