Since the National Stalking Helpline was established in 2010, they have responded to almost 14,000 calls. Statistics show that one in five women and one in ten men will be affected by stalking in their lifetime.
In the 12 months to June 2016, police recorded 4,168 stalking offences, which is an increase of 32% compared to the previous year.
The government have now recognised that this is a serious issue. It has recently come to light that stalkers will now be facing tougher penalties as offences increases.
