As it is national apprenticeship week (5th March – 9th March), here at LONEALERT we thought we’d celebrate our success of our apprentices and why they are so crucial to LONEALERT and its progression by asking how some of our apprentices find working for LONEALERT.
Rajvir Thiara (Support Technician)
I spoke to Rajvir Thiara, our support technician, who works within LONEALERT.
‘I joined Advance IT in April 2017, with my role being first line support with LONEALERT. My day to day tasks include configuring and setting up devices, dealing with first line support tickets via phone and email, regularly checking for any faults, working with clients to get accounts set up as per their requirements and check in with the development team for improvements to LONEALERT. I attend college on a regular basis to carry on developing my skills and gain qualifications.’
James Lippett (Digital Marketing)
I spoke to James Lippett, our digital marketer, who works within the Team Work Smart area of Advance IT.
‘Since joining Advance IT in July 2017, I have learnt a lot and developed my skills. I am currently 9 months into my apprenticeship course, my day to day tasks include managing internal and external support for Team Work Smart, handle phone calls, emails and customer enquiries, organise and lead training sessions (one of my personal favourites), work with the developers to shape future software for Team Work Smart.
I attend college on a regular basis to develop my skills, gain qualifications and understand digital marketing techniques from tutors within the field. Advance IT is a great place to work, I’ve learnt a lot since joining and I am constantly developing, I have always had the support from the team and the strive to do better.’
Brandon Hall (Software Developer)
Lastly, I spoke to Brandon Hall, our software developer, who works on LONEALERT and Team Work Smart within Advance IT.
‘I was the first apprenticeship to join Advance IT in October 2016, it came very clear that the company was always looking at moving forward. Throughout my time here I have developed and supported company products and bespoke software, also worked with new technologies that has broadened my skillset, general maintenance of internal systems, servers and infrastructure. Along with all this I have gained qualifications, real-world experience in the industry whilst having flexibility with my work. I have always felt appreciation for my efforts from the company and am grateful for this as they are always pushing me to improve.’
We are always looking towards the future and apprentices are one of the many ways forward.
