LONEALERT sponsors epic 145-mile bike ride for Prostate Cancer UK

LONEALERT has donated hundreds of pounds and three of its lone worker protection devices to support fundraisers on a gruelling 145-mile bike ride for charity.

A team of riders from LONEALERT's customer, Mi-Space, will be taking on the Football to Amsterdam challenge for the second year in a row to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. They have already raised more than £51,000 for the cause this year, putting them in first place currently amongst all of the competing teams for their incredible fundraising efforts.

LONEALERT is supporting the team as an official sponsor of the fundraising effort and is delighted to have donated three SOS fobs to members of the Mi-Space team, AJ Eaton, Matt Howells and Sam Heritage. The lightweight fobs, which contain GPS technology, will be carried by the riders over the two-day event, allowing supporters to follow their progress live.

The three Mi-Space workers will be joined by Dean Richards, from the Midas Group, representatives from Exeter City Football Club and other company partners on the ride, which will take them from London to Amsterdam from June 7th-9th.

Last year the team raised an impressive £15,000 and for 2019 set themselves the huge challenge of raising a whopping £50,000 for Prostate Cancer UK, which they have already smashed with weeks to go.

Mat Colley, Sales & Marketing Manager for LONEALERT, said: “This is an epic challenge the team are taking on for a wonderful cause, and we are delighted to be supporting them as an official sponsor.

“We have also donated three of our SOS fobs, which are usually used by lone workers to keep them safe in their roles, to be carried by the team so supporters can follow their progress along the route at www.lonealert.co.uk.

“On behalf of everyone at LONEALERT, I would like to wish the whole team the very best of luck for the ride and congratulations on raising so much money for such a worthy cause.

“The team set themselves the huge challenge of raising £50,000 for the cause, and to have smashed that already with weeks to go before the race is an incredible achievement.”

Please keep an eye on this blog post as we will be posting details on how to follow the riders on their journey for this great cause.

Mr. Eaton, Divisional Director for Mi-space

Mr. Eaton, Divisional Director for Mi-space, said:

“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it kills one man in the UK every 45 minutes. We want to raise as much money as we can for Prostate Cancer UK to increase awareness, understanding and ultimately to help stop men dying from this disease.”

“Although we have set ourselves a big target, we have got some fantastic sponsors on board. “Thanks to them, as well as other kind donations, we have already raised an impressive amount for the charity, with that amount rising each week.”

The team have been holding a series of fundraising events to raise funds ahead of the epic bike ride, including a sold-out curry and comedy evening which took place in early February at St James Park in Exeter.
